Number of days gone (June-August): 26
This summer has been busy. I went to such exciting locales as Santa Cruz, CA; LA, CA; Parrita, Costa Rica; and Portland, OR. Now that it’s (almost) fall, I though I’d post a few photos of all the excitement--a multi-month photo blog, if you will. Though each trip warrants an individual blog, it’s probably not going to happen.
Recently, I have rediscovered my love of making lists. It is a functional way to organize your thoughts! I also think it’s human nature to want to quantify things. Why do we like things? Well, adjectives like “pretty”, “fun” are good and fine, but don’t really carry the heft of a number. Lists give things numbers and by definition, rank. Before every trip I always pack my bags at night and then spend 5 minutes making a list of the things I need to remember to do in the morning or take and it usually looks like this:
1. pay rent
2. take out trash
3. water pumpkin
4. phone charger
5. ipod
In honor of traveling and lists, I decided to preface each photo montage with a list pertinent to that particular trip.
Santa Cruz, CA:
Reasons why I love (UC) Santa Cruz:
1. UC Sunnydale (from Buffy) is fictionalized version
2. School mascot = banana slug
3. Lost boys filmed at boardwalk (favorite movie watched while in tweens)
4. Home to summer cheerleading camp (new favorite sport, with competitive eating and dog dancing tying for close 2nd)

Portland, OR:
72 hours of Portland fun included:
1. Pocky for men (who knew food preferences were gendered?)
2. Watching Constantine on the largest TV I have ever seen. I’m not sure how many inches it was, but I assume 72 (or more).
3. One delicious meal at Sweet Tomatoes, all American buffet featuring cherry month (!)!
