I now pronounce you Chuck and Larry

Tomorrow is a like the Christmas of pop culture.

1. Beyonce and Jay-Z might be getting married

2. Battlestar Galactica returns

3. The New Kids on the Block will make their first reunion performance on the Today show.

I feel like I need a day off to prepare for complete sensory overload, or at the very least to clean up my computer for some serious internetting. I mean, I obviously have to YouTube the NKOTB performance, and then read up on Beyonce’s marital status via my celebrity blogs, all the while figuring out how to watch Battlestar now that NBC has pulled all of its shows off of iTunes.

What’s a girl to do?

All day I’ve been in a mild state of excitement, yet not sure what I’m most excited about. '03 Bonnie and Clyde is still in heavy rotation on my ipod, but honestly, it’s nearly a tie between the return of Battlestar and the return of NKOTB. It’s like my primitive 13 year old brain has come back out of hiding to wreak havoc on my 31 (almost, but I like to round up) year old brain. I KNOW I should be more excited about Battlestar—the intelligent social commentary on terror and the notion of faith. SIX! The return of Starbuck! The revelation of the last Cylon! This show has single-handedly proven that TV can be art, as provocative as Nabokov.

And yet, I spent the past hour re-watching part one of the NKOTB True Hollywood Story. All together, they were my first love! I don’t think I need to remind you of the life-sized cardboard cutout I used to have, along with nearly every single piece of NKOTB memorabilia produced. Will can attest to the insanity, as he had to LIVE with me as a 13 year old. It was intense, to put it mildly.

It’s interesting to look at recent pictures of them. I used to be a die-hard Joey McIntyre fan, and now? I’m sort of into Danny Wood. I mean, he was the one NO ONE liked, and yet there’s something about him now, as an almost 40 year old, that is more appealing. Have I changed, or has our collective cultural aesthetic changed (and therefore my frame of reference)?

Let me leave you with this thought about 4-4-08: OMG
