peanut brittle

Today we went back to the working world, which was fun when I got the great idea of turning it into a game to be conquered, rather than a performance that has to be repeated for the next five months until freedom will once again be at my behest.  I also really entertained myself when answering a simple question about why atoms bond.  One can give many different succinct answers to this: "They want to be like noble gases", "Stability is more important than neutrality", "Full valence electron shells", but I went off the rails and said, "Why is there salt? Because to have salt is more stable for the universe than to not have salt." (!).  A little philosophy with your basic chemistry, anyone? (no one).

Theo learned how to put on deoderant over the holidays and it is the CUTEST.

We also did a flurry of end-of-break activities, like go into SF twice and walk along the bay.
We were the only ones around (except for a suspicious brown van).

 Bay Area Babe.

Theo has become a bit cross-eyed, so we took him to a pediatric ophthalmologist who discovered that he’s farsighted , which might be causing the crossing.  He prescribed glasses, which are going to be challenging to implement (to say the least.  He is very willful).  We’ve been practicing with a pair of sunglasses with the lenses removed.  He will tolerate them if he is outside and entertained, or if he is allowed to eat junk food.  So far, he’s managed a 15 minute stretch of wearing them.   We were told to build up his tolerance, but this seems hard for a family with two parents who work full-time.  If the glasses don’t fix the crossing, then the next step is a patch, which I can only imagine as a total nightmare.
