This is the first year I've spent Thanksgiving with my parents since I was barely out of my teens. It is also the first year that we had paella for Thanksgiving! My dad planned like a true foodie for the making of the paella, which involved both a new special pan and $40/jar saffron! The success of paella Thanksgiving had resulted in a plan for paella Christmas. (I still insisted that mashed potatoes and stuffing be made, even though they were consumed strictly as leftovers (paella is filling)).
