I am loathe to say that I celebrate “Thanksgiving”. Any notions of celebrating some historic/convoluted American cultural event have been long abandoned. It’s really just about eating lots of food and hanging out with your family (or lover and cat as the case may be). This year I did most of the cooking myself, which was exciting and exhausting, but when combined with the steady imbibing of alcoholic beverages, quite fun!
We had:
Pan-fried trout
Non-can derived green bean casserole (sans crunchy topping)
Orange-ginger-cranberry sauce
Almond stuffing
Garlic mashed potatoes
Baked apples
Pumpkin pie
Deviled eggs w/o sweet relish (YES!)
