I'm more of a "read about it while on the plane and hope for the best" kind of vacation planner (see solo Norwegian vacation that started off with a $250/night hotel room, as I had no reservation and the pickings were slim in Oslo). Luckily, I married a planner, who will literally spend months pouring over travel books to construct the most perfect vacation that has ever been taken. These books are just the beginning of his madness (and hugely overdue).
