We have returned from the overcast lands of the northwestern states, and CA is so much warmer. I think that, much like my parents, I no longer have the ability to tolerate cold climates. At one point, I needed to abruptly leave the house I was visiting, and so I walked outside with no shoes or coat and realized that the tactics that work in CA just don't in cold places.
Also, the pet nanny worked out pretty well, and seemed to have a preference for pumpkin.
