Mt. Diablo

I participated in some professional development at the old Chevron corporation today. I received a hand lens with the Chevron logo and a hat that says, “Chevron Geology School”, which for some reason is hi-larious to me. (The name implies an interest in the Earth for the Earth’s sake, which is for the most part, not Chevron’s agenda). I learned a little about the cost of drilling oil (tens of millions just to make the seismic maps!), and then we took a field trip to Mt. Diablo. I conveniently left my camera at home, but I had a good time looking at eroded sandstone. There’s an area towards the top that has a bunch of wind caves and little rock climbing areas for kids.
